My Go-To: Lip Colors for Fall/Winter

I am absolutely not one to shy away from bold lip colors.  To be honest, I think they exude confidence more than any other makeup product.  I mean, don't they just make you go, "Dang, that girl is fierce"?? Because that's how I feel.  Anyway, I wanted to share my two favorite lipsticks of the moment.

The first is Maybelline's COLORsensational lipstick in 420 "Deepest Cherry".  Now, I've always been a fan of red lips, but when the vampy trend started last year, I just about died.  Since then I've been on the hunt for the perfect color for my skin tone, and I think I've finally found it.  I really like the sharp contrast between my pale skin and the wine colored lips.  If anything, it definitely makes a strong statement.

The second is Sonia Kashuk's Satin Luxe Lip Color in 94 "Plum Wine".  I never thought I'd sport a purple toned lip product, but the day has arrived.  Isn't it funny how fashion surprises you?  It keeps me on my toes!  Anyway, I'm completely obsessed with this color, and product.  First, I put a layer of concealer on my lips to prep before applying the lipstick so that the color appears even more vibrant.  And boy does it show up beautifully.  I have to make a shout out to my girl Sonia Kashuk on this one--this lip product glides on so smoothly, no clumps or lumps!  I just laaave it.

In my opinion, anyone can wear a bold lip.  What's your favorite to rock?

Jess

Follow Me to: San Diego

So, I haven't posted in a while and I apologize for that.  Unfortunately, I've been super busy working on college applications.  I know what you're thinking, "Aren't you a little old to be applying to college?!"  To fill you in, yes, I'm technically a sophomore in college, but I'm currently taking a semester off with the hope of transferring to a new school (yet to be determined) in the springtime.  During my semester off, I've immersed myself into volunteering at a homeless shelter.  Working there has been a blessing--serving others gives me joy.  For now, I'm okay with not knowing exactly what my next move will be--yeah, I'm okay with just being.

Anyway, this past weekend my dad had a business trip in San Diego and he invited the whole family along.  We stayed at a beautiful resort on Coronado Island.  It was quite the relaxing mini-vacation.  I got to catch up on some reading by the pool and do some exploring of the island with my siblings.  Since we were only there for two days, and there was some travel involved, I only have one outfit to share...but it's a good one, don't worry!

I decided to pair this distressed-looking/acid wash jumper (similar here and here) with my favorite camo-print moto jacket (similar here), both from Urban Outfitters (yes I know, I'm a little obsessed).  I just love pairing denim with military inspired clothing!  To pull in the black from my camo jacket, I went with my new pair of Steve Madden booties.  I contemplated buying these babies for awhile, but once they went on sale, I couldn't say no.  The cute cutouts make them bearable on even the hottest of days here in Southern California.  Lastly, I added a bold lip with a deep wine colored lipstick by Revlon.  And let me tell you, I'm a fan.  I love the juxtaposition of my blue eyes with the red lip.  Overall, I was very pleased with the look.  It's edgy, yet soft at the same time, which you've probably learned by now, is my go-to combo!!

I've also included some scenic pictures as well as pictures of the fam just for fun!  Enjoy.

XOXO,
Jess

Follow Me To: LA, an Impromtu Trip with Friends

My friends and I love taking impromptu trips up to LA.  There's something so enticing about spending a few days wrapped up in the hustle and bustle of the city--after all I lived the city life for a whole year...and I often find myself craving the constant action and motion of it all.  One of my favorite things about venturing into the city is deciding what to wear!  There's just something about being in the city that makes me want to BE BOLD with my fashion choices.

Here are some pictures we took during our two day adventure.

Lookbook: Saying Goodbye to Summer

My best friend, his cousin, and I took some fun hipster-esque pics the other day.  It's kind of an end of summer pre-fall lookbook.  Let me tell you, I am obsessed with the outfit I ended up wearing!  I was going for an edgy look with my military moto jacket, distressed cut-offs, high top converse, and a bold red lip.  It was an easy look to pull together, and for some reason I always find that I feel super confident when I'm all "edged out". I just love it!!

Here's how the pictures turned out!
